Responsibilities:
-Checking patients in and out after examination
- Assist optometrists in providing patient care
- Perform preliminary eye examinations, including taking patient history and documenting chief complaints
- Conduct various diagnostic tests such as visual acuity and visual field testing
- Prepare patients for procedures including explaining the process and answering any questions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
- Clean and sterilize ophthalmic instruments and equipment
- Provide patient education on eye health, contact lens care, and post-operative care
Experience:
- Previous experience as an ophthalmic assistant or in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of medical coding and HIPAA regulations
- Proficiency in medical terminology and anatomy knowledge
Skills:
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism
- Proficient in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
