SUMMARY
The Financial Counselor will report to the Revenue Cycle Manager and be responsible for completing all aspects of billing and collecting Patient Accounts and securing a viable source of payment. This position provides direction to finance department office staff including financial counseling, billing, collections and data entry, and works closely with CFO to achieve facility goals for AR days and Collections.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Work with Admissions to gather relevant data and verify eligibility and medical benefits for anticipated treatment services.
- Work with client, guarantor, family, and family services team to secure source of payment as needed. Document all communication in the client records.
- Counsel, educate and assist clients and their families with inquiries regarding their financial responsibility.
- Ensure completion of Certification of Benefits, COBRA, and other forms necessary for optimal utilization.
- Ensure timely payment of all marketplace insurance plans.
- Active participation in weekly meetings pertaining to client revenue cycle.
- Prepare and ensure receipt of requested medical records.
- Other tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- EMR and financial counseling experience preferred.
- Team player mentality with a positive outlook.
- Ability to thrive in constantly changing environment.
- Microsoft Excel skills necessary.
- Top notch organizational and communication skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Able to navigate a computer and use basic software.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
