Norman Love Confections is currently looking to hire an Assistant Pastry Chef. This position will be based at our corporate headquarters located in Fort Myers, Florida. The Assistant Pastry Chef is responsible for managing all aspects of pastry and gelato production at Norman Love Confections. This role is a key role within our organization and has a direct impact on our customers and our company standards. It is a working supervisory role in which daily jobs will vary depending on production needs. Duties that you will be supervising as well as directly performing can include but are not limited to scaling, mixing, baking, glazing, decorating, pasteurizing, spinning, chocolate tempering, and storing as related to the production of pastry and gelato. Since this is a production facility, this role will typically be scheduled to work a day shift Monday through Friday!
An ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of related experience in a leadership capacity. Key responsibilities for the position are as follows:
Customer Service:
- The overall goal is to maintain high quality products and consistency as per the company standards.
- Complete understanding of pastry and gelato operations.
- Uphold and ensure all company and department procedures.
Sales & Financial:
- Responsible for maximizing sales and minimizing waste.
- Responsible for implementing new products, which as a result, will help maximize sales revenue.
- Manage proper production scheduling and cost control.
- To ensure proper use and operation of machines to minimize repairs.
Business Operations:
- Manage proper production scheduling to accommodate business needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness standards throughout the pastry shop.
- Responsible for following FIFO inventory management.
- Responsible for reporting accurate production and dispatch of all pastry items.
- Effectively communicates all equipment issues.
- Ability to follow standardized recipes.
Training & Development:
- Strong leadership qualities and ability to train other staff members.
- Responsible for holding a Serve Safe Certification.
- Knowledge of the food service industry and safe food handling practices
- Develop new products in cooperation with the Director, while following the proper R&D procedures.
