Fine Point Consulting, a boutique Accounting, CFO and HR services firm, is hiring a regular Part-Time Tax Preparer (working up to 20 hrs/week) to join our fun and high energy team. The Tax Preparer is an experienced accountant capable of accuracy across many clients. You know when to ask questions and are a skilled communicator when responding to client inquiries or reaching out to them for answers. You work efficiently, balancing speed with accuracy to ensure minimal errors on review of your work.

Reports to: Tax Manager

- Prior tax preparation experience and ability to apply that experience to a wide range of client situations.

- Time and project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to manage unexpected and sometimes urgent firm or client matters as they arise.
- Expertise using a range of technology solutions (software, peripherals, etc.)

Responsibilities
- Assists clients with our online organizer process.
- Inputs some source document material into our tax software.
- Prepares 990, 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120S returns, including multi-state and self-employed returns.
- Follows up with clients on missing documents and information.
- Prepares and submits extensions.
- Updates our project management tool with the status of returns.
- Conducts tax research as necessary.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Associate's degree in accounting.
- 2+ years of accounting experience.
- 2+ years of tax preparation experience.
- Strong technology skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook at a minimum, more applications preferred).
- Ability to multi-task and to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Innovative thinker that enjoys building things from scratch and finding new ways to solve problems.
- Team player with a positive 'can do' approach.
Nice to have/Bonus points
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- An experienced CPA would be a plus!
- Experience working in a paperless environment.
- A general and growing knowledge of firm products and services in the practice area, and a general knowledge of products and services in other practice areas.
- Previous experience in public accounting or consulting on multiple clients.
- Prior experience with Proconnect and Tax Dome.
