Department OFFICE OF ONLINE EDUCATION (UA-OEC-IUBLA) Department Information Indiana University's Office of Online Education (OOE) is responsible for protecting and maintaining the academic integrity of an IU degree, facilitating collaborative opportunities presented by online education, and utilizing IU's scale, resources, reputation, and diversity of offerings to expand online education offerings to students located in Indiana, as well as nationally and internationally. OOE oversees growth and development of more than 200 online degree and certificate programs that to date enroll almost 10,000 students annually. The Office of Online Education is a university-wide office that provides strategic leadership to IU stakeholders in delivering online education.
In 2022, the IU 2030 Strategic Framework endorsed by President Whitten challenged the university to triple the number of students in online programs, and OOE is pleased to be developing programs and services with IU's campuses to meet this strategic goal. Job Summary This role supports the IU Online Undergraduate Advising team and reports to the Associate Director, Online Undergraduate Advising. Department Specific Responsibilities Answers text messages for pre-enrolled students and routes them to the IU Online Guided Onboarding (GO) Team.
Helps monitor the team's group inbox and answers questions from students. Monitors advisors' calendars to ensure students meet with the right advisor and works to reschedule students when appropriate. Enters and maintains shared team data.
Assigns advisors in the university's Student Information System (SIS). Qualifications EDUCATION Required High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED) WORK EXPERIENCE Required 1 year of professional administrative experience Preferred Prior experience in higher education student affairs role SKILLS Required Familiarity with administrative tools, such as the Microsoft Office suite of products Prior cross-functional collaboration with professional colleagues to achieve shared goals Comfortable working with, and adhering to, deadlines Strong time management skills, with an emphasis on strength of communication Maintains a high degree of professionalism and upholds FERPA requirements Ability to evaluate issues and use prudent reasoning and discretion to resolve Emphasizes pride in his/her/their work and a positive approach to work environment Preferred Experience with SIS or other large higher education student and curricular tracking system Experience with collaborative, dynamic teams Work Location Bloomington, Indiana This position is eligible for remote work or to work a hybrid schedule (mix between in-person work and remote), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs. Some travel to attend work meetings and/or events is necessary (approx.
4-6x per year). Advertised Salary $18.00- $20.00 per hour based upon experience. Work Hours 25-29 hours per week, generally between 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
