DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Park Resource Ranger, DCNR, your primary role will involve ensuring the safety and well-being of park visitors at Raccoon Creek State Park. Some of your responsibilities will be inspecting park buildings, facilities, and grounds to identify and address any safety hazards promptly. In addition, you will perform traffic control, conduct beach and playground inspections, and post safety zones as required. Your duties will also include providing information to park visitors about park facilities, services, nearby State Parks, and offering emergency care and assistance when necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Seasonal full-time employment without benefits.
  • Shift hours and days vary due to operational need, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Weekends, holidays and all shifts as needed at 37.5 hours per week
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • No minimum experience and training required.

Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • All employees must obtain valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent within 60 days of employment.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
    • In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 this position is required to complete Child Abuse, Criminal and Federal Criminal History Checks around the time of hire and thereafter every 5 years.
