Situated next to the Yaquina Bay Bridge, South Beach State Park begins in south Newport and stretches several miles down the Oregon coast. This historic park offers access to miles of broad, sandy ocean beach and trails for walking and bicycling. Located just south of the South Jetty, this is your gateway to exploring Newport.
This position falls under the classification Park Ranger 3.

What you will do:
The person in this position will coordinate activities across management unit boundaries and will mentor permanent and seasonal employees throughout the park region in specialized skills related to the maintenance and operations of OPRD programs and properties.

Minimum Qualifications:
Park Ranger 3: Five years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping);
OR
A Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies or a related field and 2 years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping);
OR
An Associate's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management or Environmental Studies and 3.5 years of visitor services experience (e.g., rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
Special Requirements:

• To be hired, you must have a criminal records and driving records check that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment.
• You must have a valid driver's license at the time of hire and throughout employment
• It is required for this position to obtain certification as a playground safety inspector through the national recreation and park association within their first year

• The salary listed is at the non-PERS rate. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) eligible employees will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay the 6% employee contribution to PERS. If you are not yet PERS eligible, the 6.95% pay increase and employee contribution will be effective upon PERS eligibility.
