Payroll Specialist

**Job Title: Payroll/Bookkeeping Professional**

**Overview:**
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Payroll/Bookkeeping Professional to join our dynamic team at [CPA Firm Name]. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of hands-on experience processing multi-state payroll, managing bookkeeping tasks, and offering sales and use tax support for small to midsize businesses. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with clients and team members.

**Responsibilities:**

1. **Payroll Processing:**
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for clients across multiple states.
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, taxes, and deductions.
- Handle payroll inquiries and resolve any issues in a timely manner.
- Stay updated on payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

2. **Bookkeeping:**
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients.
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting as needed.

3. **Sales and Use Tax Support:**
- Provide guidance and support to clients on sales and use tax matters.
- Assist with sales tax registration, filing, and remittance processes.
- Conduct sales tax audits and reconcile discrepancies.
- Stay informed about changes in sales tax laws and regulations.

4. **Client Communication:**
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Communicate effectively to understand client needs and expectations.
- Provide proactive solutions and recommendations to improve processes.
- Address client inquiries and concerns in a professional manner.

5. **Team Collaboration:**
- Work closely with other team members to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Collaborate with CPAs, tax professionals, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.

**Qualifications:**

- Associates degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing and bookkeeping.
- Strong understanding of multi-state payroll laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, ADP, Ultratax, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of sales and use tax principles and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- CPA or CPP certification a plus.
