The Parent & Family Community Engagement Coordinator will ensure that the Grantee’s EH/S agencies’ programs develop, integrate, and implement systems and procedures for the delivery of comprehensive support and advocacy services to children and families.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and support to the E/HS agency programs in the areas of family support, advocacy, community partnerships, and parent engagement as outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Collaborates with FCE Manager to develop systems for the management and compliance of family & community partnerships and parent engagement programming provided by the E/HS programs in conjunction with Early/ Head Start Network.
  • Develop and provide training and technical support to the Early/ Head Start Network programs in relation to family and community partnerships.
  • Monitors E/HS programs' family and community partnerships, parent engagement, transition services, and parenting curriculum programming including regular review of programs' database entries and other documentation.
  • As requested, participates in the annual community assessment triennial/update process with research and the Head Start ERSEA team and ensures its distribution and accurate use.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to support Community Engagement and ability to support family access to program resources.

Collaborate with EHSN coordinators from other content areas as needed to improve program functioning and child and household outcomes in areas including health, attendance, engagement in the child’s education, parent leadership, etc.

  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (or related field).
  • Minimum of five to proven experience in early childhood education, early childhood development, and program management and coordination.
  • Knowledge of adult learning styles, early childhood education, and training methods.
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards related to ERSEA and Household and Community Partnership and Parent Involvement.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement Head Start Performance Standards and state and local licensing requirements.
  • Knowledge of programs and systems that serve children, families, low-income communities, and communities where Head Start/Early Head Start families live.
  • Ability to engage culturally diverse populations.
  • Strong analytical, communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Organized problem solver with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of program development and assessing quality services.
  • Knowledge of effective community collaboration practices.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a program located in a high-risk, low-income community.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and materials.
  • Ability to communicate and respond in a manner that consistently demonstrates respect and concern.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and shown ability to work within prescribed timelines.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to travel to Grantee’s Partners’ sites.
  • Must have excellent command of the English language and grammar, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to manually operate and use a computer and other office equipment.

  • Effectively establish and maintain relationships with clients/colleagues and gain their trust and respect.
  • Comfort and experiences in handling risk and uncertainty to move work forward.

Salary Range $77,400 - 103,200. The starting salary for this position is $77,400 - $80K.
