Job description
MCA Communications is currently hiring a CAD Drafting technician for our A/V team. The Drafting Technician is responsible for the creation of systems and detailed architectural drawings for the purpose of audio/video systems integration. Assignments are accompanied by project notes, sketches, and a bill of materials. Work is performed under the guidance and direction of a design engineer.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare A/V signal flow diagrams.
- Prepare A/V equipment elevations and A/V plate diagrams.
- Research A/V product information as needed for drawing preparation.
- Incorporate A/V construction-related details into existing architectural drawings; such as electrical requirements and mounting details.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest technology, theories, and concepts concerning A/V systems integration.
- Copying, batch plotting, and distribution of drawings.
Qualifications and required competencies:
To perform this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty adequately and in a timely manner. You must:
- Be highly proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office Suite (degrees or certification in this design field preferred).
- Have a background in electronics and architectural drafting. 3D modeling experience beneficial, but not required.
- Have the ability to read and understand architectural drawings, electrical drawings, and related materials.
- Help maintain an organized filing system for all drawings and CAD productions in office.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- Possess knowledge of construction trades.
- An intuitive nature for and high interest in audio and video systems beneficial.
- CTS certification preferred, but not required.
- Certifications, associates, or bachelor degrees with a focus in AutoCAD and Construction related fields highly preferred
- One year of professional experience preferred.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
