Title: Packaging Application Engineer - Pressure Sensitive
Reports to: Technical Services Manager - Pressure Sensitive

Summary
First of three levels of professional sales engineering at Belmark. Supports the sales process through the identification of a product or design to fit a customer need in a fast and friendly manner. Assist customers with the selection of products that meet their specific needs, modification of products to meet specific customer applications, and training customers in the use of products. Work may also include intervention when customers or manufacturing needs assistance with product reliability. Any travel to customer’s facilities is for the sole purpose of landing new accounts and ensuring the next purchase order is placed with existing accounts.
What will I do in this role?
- Lead Sales and customers in defining end-use requirements.
- Perform competitive analyses to recommend best materials that meet customer requirements.
- Establish best manufacturing processes to most efficiently use internal capabilities to meet customer requirements.
- Establish the size, shape, design and tooling specifications for new opportunities.
- Create, revise, and manage material/converting specifications and test methods.
- Process and manage the daily project flow with accuracy, speed and service.
- Work with suppliers to test/trial new materials to validate in both internal and customer processes.
- Support standardization of materials and processes to service our customers.
- Support quality improvement efforts and CAPA resolution.
- Provide technical support within the sales process, which may require occasional overnight travel with or without other company representatives.
- Manage the risk and liability of business decisions that ensure reasonable precautions prevent large losses.
- Maintain a strong awareness of the effect of how material and process selections can impact efficiencies, waste and ultimately cost.
- Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of and the ability to effectively utilize the English language.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Must have the ability to quickly learn and apply new information regarding materials and manufacturing processes.
- Must be able to analyze data and recommend a course of action.
- Must be able to simultaneously manage numerous tasks and projects.
- Requires constant and critical attention to detail.
- Ability to establish and meet tight time lines.
- Ability to operate a computer with a proficiency in word processing software (Microsoft Word), presentation software (Powerpoint) and spreadsheet software (Excel).
- Ability to read, comprehend and follow implicit and explicit written and oral instructions.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to communicate and answer questions, both written and orally, in a professional and friendly manner.
- Must have the ability to clearly explain a complex technical concept in layman’s terms.
- Requires education as is generally acquired in four (4) years of college with a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or technology field; or five (5) years of experience working in packaging/converting.
- Ability to talk and hear 90% of work time.
- Standing and walking required for 25% of work time.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds for 20% of work time.
- Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or 20 feet or more; ability to identify and distinguish colors; ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while the eyes are fixed on a given point; and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
Working Conditions:
- Normal office environment.
- May be some exposure to vibrations, noise and chemical odors.
