Job Description
Harm reduction specialists perform duties that support individuals who are actively engaged in substance use behaviors. Specific responsibilities include outreach to the community and other service providers; assessment of need including types of drug use and a number of injections/daily weekly; provide education on proper syringe use and disposal/educational materials; provide syringes and all other materials necessary for safe injection; and provide information regarding transmission and treatment of HIV and other blood-borne pathogens.
Administrative duties include tracking supplies, documenting referrals, maintaining client records on both paper and computer databases.
Required Minimum Education: Associate’s Degree Other: None
Required Years of Related Experience: 1-3 years

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
(Include any required computer skills, certifications, licenses, languages, etc.)
- HIV Counseling and Testing certification
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, especially with members of LGBTQ and interests
- Access to a currently registered car and a valid driver's license.
