Ophthalmic Assistant – Bilingual preferred
Job description
Job Purpose:
Help patients by providing business office and clinical assistance in a private ophthalmology practice. We need someone who is energetic, friendly, professional, kind, patient with the elderly, and can multitask in a busy environment. We are primarily looking for someone to provide front desk and direct patient care (workup/pre-visit testing). Ideally, the candidate should be flexible and willing to work in the front office and direct patient care.
Duties:
* Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries. Must be customer service oriented.
* Phone triage for patients
* Schedules patient appointments in Electronic Medical Record (Check-In & Check-Out)
* Verifies Insurance Eligibility, Collects Co-Pays, Confirms Appointments, & Maintains Accurate Records
* Previsit testing including: AutoRefraction, ICare, OCT (Macula and Optic Nerve), Visual field testing, Cataract measurements (Biometry)
* Vision Check and Pressure Measurements (with the Icare), Administers dilation drops
* Conducts short medical interviews, confirms chief complaints, and accurately enters all information in the medical record
* Keeps supplies ready by verifying stock; Placing orders for medical supplies; Verifying receipt.
* Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
* Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
* Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Customer friendly
- Bilingual Preferred
- Computer savvy – Previous EMR experience is a plus
- Ophthalmology experience
- Multitasking is a plus
