Purpose:
The Packaging/Shipping Manufacturing Associate is responsible for supporting the packaging and shipping department to ensure customer requirements are met. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring product is packed carefully with all accompanying documentation while meet our quality standards with regard to customer specifications.
Essential Functions:
- Pick products for customer shipments
- Ability to read, understand and follow customer required packaging requirements
- Ensure product is packed carefully by using correct packing material
- Ensure all accompanying documentation is present with packed items
- Assist with wrapping and labeling skids of products
- Assist with monitoring packing material inventory and communicating with purchasing to place orders
- Communicate with production in a timely manner to ensure product is available to ship on time
- Assist with organization of product and packaging material to ensure efficient flow
- Records information, such as weight, time, and date packaged.
- Communicates with Shipping Coordinator to ensure transportation is set-up in a timely manner
- Maintain activity logs as necessary
- Store goods and raw materials in factory storage areas and warehouses in manners conducive to ensuring their quality and safety
- Prepare cartons and crates for packaging purposes and ensure that items are properly and safely packed into them
- Inspect finished products to ensure that they conform to quality standards and isolate any non-conformed or damaged items
- Communicate problems with machinery, raw and end products to the Team Leader or Supervisor
- Some assignments may require entering data into Epicor
- Perform preventative and regular maintenance on machines to ensure that their operational life is extended
- When needed, act as a productive team member in other areas of the manufacturing process
- Participate in 5S activities daily and in TFPS initiatives
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1+ years of equivalent experience
- Adherence to health and safety policies and regulations (e.g. constant proper use of protective equipment)
- Understanding of basic production procedures
- Ability to use tape measure, calipers, and other measuring devices
- Ability to comprehend, or to learn to comprehend, part specification prints and assembly instructions
- Attention to detail
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items (up to 40 pounds alone and occasionally up to 75 pounds using team lifting) and work overtime
- Ability to effectively communicate written and oral communications skills
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
