Form of workDUTIES: Process surface water with different chemical, biological and physical processes to achieve State and Federal drinking water standards. Collects routine samples and performs chlorine, pH and NTU testing and collects NPDES samples. Performs backwashing on filter beds as needed. Operates and confirms pump settings and chemical feed rates. Records and enters data on daily log sheets. Maintains plant security by monitoring security cameras and verifying buildings are locked. Monitors SCADA and performs calibration on NTU, CI2, pH and other instrumentation as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned and assists other employees as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Incumbent is required to pass the State WT-5 exam within eighteen (18) months of placement to become a certified water treatment plant operator. A minimum score of 60 on the State certification test is required within twelve (12) months from date of hire to retain position. Associate’s degree in a Biological Science is preferred. Applicant without an Associate’s degree will be required to pass the WT-5 operator certification in nine (9) months. Three (3) years of work experience and a WT-5 operator certification will meet qualification requirements. Work any shift, overtime, weekends and holidays as required and a reasonable amount of overtime weekly. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
