Job description

Summary:  In this position, you will be responsible for managing the quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of the MSC Operations to ensure maximum yield and quality, while supporting the goals and objectives of this company.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Actively participate in site safety management plan.
  • Manage and report Key Process Indicators (KPI’s) – daily, weekly, monthly and annual.
  • Participate in performance review of all MSC operators/technicians.
  • Be part of approval process for all process changes that affect MSC process.
  • Capture and document all process changes.
  • Manage MSC inventories.
  • Manage MSC quality including COA process, sample integrity, and all factors of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Assist in developing the QMS.
  • Participate in developing the Preventative and Predictive Maintenance programs for the MSC process.
  • Understand of the operations of centrifuges, dryers, pressure screens and mechanical separation with continuous flows
  • Manage, communicate expectations, and goals to the lead MSC operators/operators
  • Train employees on MSC operations
  • Ensure sample results and COA’s are in spec
  • Work closely with plant and maintenance manager
  • Ensure toxin testing is being done as needed and results are acceptable
  • Ensure Maximum yield and work with vendors for continuous improvement of yields and throughput.
  • Develop and maintain all SOP’s applying to the MSC process
  • Run statistical analysis to identify shortcomings of MSC process
  • Assist in fermentation optimization

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering preferred, Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of experience in Chemical Engineering 
  • Two years of experience in a QA Laboratory or two year’s experience in a manufacturing facility with continuous flow, ethanol or food manufacturing preferred
  • Experience with implementing effective QA/QC programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of fermentation and distillation as they relate to the ethanol production process.
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring and training MSC employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraisal performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have expertise and proficiency in office computer software, e.g. word processing, e-mail and spread sheets.
  • Must have the ability to work efficiently with computerized laboratory equipment.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/move up to 50 lbs.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near mechanical parts.
  • The employee may be exposed to dusty conditions.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions.
  • The employee may be exposed to chemicals used in the process.
