The YMCA of Greenville is searching for a dynamic, mission-driven leader to serve as the Director of Operation at the Prisma Health Family YMCA, located in Southern Greenville County serving the Simpsonville, Mauldin, and Fountain Inn communities.

 

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Reporting directly to the District Executive Director, the Director of Operations will be responsible for all branch operations and building a culture that creates an extraordinary member experience, energizes employees and volunteers to serve, inspires committed donors, and stimulates growth, impact, and innovation to one of the largest YMCA locations in South Carolina. The Operations Director is responsible for the efficient and effective facility program operation, and program staff development, and assists with facility operation oversight and supervision.

 

The Prisma Health Family YMCA is the largest membership branch in the association with a $5.3 M budget serving 6100 membership units. The facility is over 70,000 sq ft with a 20,000 sq ft expansion project to begin at the end of the year.

Operational Management

  • Oversees daily activities of the facility operations to maximize utilization of resources.
  • Implement innovative, best practice strategies to boost branch performance, increase and retain members and program participants, improve operational efficiency, and ensure the quality of services.
  • Oversees and implements strategies that produce growth and retention of membership
  • Recruit, supervise, train, and develop branch staff team.
  • where necessary or suggest alternative courses of action which may be taken. Participates in the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual planning process as appropriate.

Program Administration and Development

Plans develops, implements, and evaluates the full range of program services for all program areas. Ensures that all programs are relevant, have growth potential, and are progressive.

 

Staff Administrationand Development

Directly hires, trains, supervises, motivates, evaluates, coaches, and maintains a qualified staff and takes all necessary action to assure effective/efficient performance in all areas of responsibility, and maintains a favorable working relationship with all employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness. Communicates areas of accountability and performance expected of personnel assigned. Ensures proper training of personnel assigned. Develops staff for future advancement.

 

Marketing & Communications

Works to effectively communicate Y’s benefit and impact to members, staff, and the community.

Demonstrate and communicate the Y’s mission, impact, and strategic initiatives.

 

Fiscal Management

Assures that all programs have a suitable business plan and budget. Review and analyze monthly branch financial statements and implement action plans with the staff team to meet budget targets. Prepares financial variance notes and conducts monthly forecasting with the staff team.

 

Financial Development

Working with the Executive Director assists with the Annual Campaign. Helps with identifying opportunities for grants and other financial support for annual and capital development. Helps staff team understand and accomplish an effective campaign.

 

Facility/Risk Management

Works in partnership with Facility Director to ensure a clean, safe, and maintained facility and property.

Conduct weekly facility/program audits and quick checks with staff and vendors.

Collaborate with the associated risk management director to ensure all association guidelines and practices are followed.

 

Other expectations

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements.
  • Adhere to job-specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
  • Maintenance Employees-ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker rooms and bathrooms), etc.
  • Front Desk Personnel- ensure consumers are properly signed in and out, ensure only authorized adults are allowed in the facility, etc. 
  • Follow employees' and volunteers' screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with ongoing supervision and training related to abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers.
  • Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
  • Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization’s progressive disciplinary procedures.
  • Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements.
  • Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization’s commitment to protecting their consumers from abuse.
  • Report essential abuse risk management information to the board of directors

  • Bachelor's degree in business, hospitality, administration, human services or equivalent.
  • Proven success in one or more of the core YMCA program areas.
  • Three (3) years of operations experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Three (3) years of management/supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive, effective working relationships.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to take initiative and respond to a variety of situations and manage several tasks and projects at the same time.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated budget experience and skill with quantitative information and ability to make decisions based on logical reasoning.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community, track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.
  • Incumbent must complete mandatory trainings of BBP/Child Abuse Prevention, and CPR/First Aid/AED within 30 days of employment.
