Ohsu Student Worker

The Infectious Diseases Research Group is based out of the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. The group specializes in evaluations of infectious disease, in individual patients and the population as a whole. The group’s experts are national leaders in two rare diseases that predominantly affect the lungs – nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM disease), and bronchiectasis.

This position will several projects, including the national Bronchiectasis Research Registry, for individuals with either bronchiectasis or nontuberculous mycobacterial lung disease. The Student Worker may also work on several clinical trials in NTM disease or bronchiectasis, as well as interfacing with infectious disease PIs who are outside of SPH. Responsibilities include consenting potential participants, performing chart abstraction and data entry, calling and scheduling participants, filing paperwork, stuffing envelopes for recruitment, and other logistical support.

 

Functions/Duties of Position:

• Call potential participants to discuss research studies and schedule visits if the participants are interested;
• Perform chart data abstraction from OHSU’s electronic medical record (EMR);
• Enter data into different databases;
• Additional logistical support, such as mailing participants materials or filing documents.

• Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in Graduate Program

• One (1) year research experience
• Experience interacting with research participants or patients
• Experience with literature reviews, manuscript writing, or presenting

• Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

• Strong written, verbal comminication and proficeincy in MS Office Suite; meticulous record keeping and organization skills
