Medication Technician

Assisted Living Facility located in Bensonhurst Brooklyn is looking to hire organized, professional, able to multi-task and computer literate individual to assist in medication room. Receiving, sorting, and administering medications to the residents of the facility. Previous experience is a plus but not required. Ideally should be open to rotating schedule.

• 2-3 weeks of training paid at full rate Mon-Fri during regular day office hours.

Potential employee must be FULLY vaccinated for Covid-19 in accordance with Section 16 Orders by NY Governor mandating Covid 19 vaccinations for healthcare workers including hospitals and long-term care facilities staff members.

Performance requirements include but are not limited to:

1. Assure that all residents receive their medications as prescribed by their physician.

2. Assist residents with medication based on residents' identified level of need.

• Independent.
• All days - distribute envelopes with 24 hours of medication to residents at designated time.
• Med room window - assist with self-administration at designated time.
• Seated in med room - seat frail and slow residents in the med room and assist with self-administration as needed.

3. Identify residents whose level of self-medication ability has varied and refer them to case manager for change in category of level of assistance needed.

4. Document incidents of resident refusals and non-compliance and refer them to case manager and/pr physician.

5. Maintain accurate documentation on MAR (Medication Administration Record).

6. Maintain updated medication files with the following:

• Latest #3122.
• Latest psych eval if needed.
• Updates in medication profile (new prescriptions, discontinue orders from the physician, current medication profiles from outside programs, etc.)

7. Maintain files and records in a way that assures privacy and confidentiality.

8. Assure that medication renewals are sent to the pharmacy on a timely basis.

9. Receive deliveries from the pharmacy and verify accuracy.

10. Obtain the necessary doctor's prescriptions for renewals and interim medications as needed.
