Under the direction of the Deputy Labor Commissioner III (Senior Deputy), the Office Technician (Typing) performs a wide variety of difficult clerical duties involving the administration of the Wage Claim Adjudication (WCA) program and/or Port Unit administered by the WCA program in order to support the labor code law enforcement functions timely, efficiently, and effectively.

Department Information

The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. Its mission is to improve working conditions for California's wage earners and to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.

  • The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Type at a speed of not less than 40 words per minute. Typing Certificate – 40 WPM (words per minute) issued within the last four (4) years and certified from a five (5) minute typing test.
