There are two (2) current openings in the Recreation Division of the Arts and Recreation Department. The City is also looking to establish an eligible list for future vacancies that can be used citywide.
Regional Government Services and its staff are conducting this recruitmenton behalf of the City of Walnut Creek.

Qualifications Guidelines
- Graduation from high school, supplemented by secretarial or business coursework, and
- a minimum of one year of experience in general office support work; or
- any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below.
Special Requirements:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain prior to employment, a valid Class C California Driver’s License and a good driving record may be required for some assignments.
- Employee may be required to work on weekends and/or evenings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of business English, grammar, spelling, arithmetic, modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
- Knowledge of the procedures and services of the department to which assigned or the ability to acquire such knowledge during a reasonable period of training
- Knowledge of and the ability to effectively utilize computer applications and technology related to the work
- Skill in prioritizing own work and independently performing office support work in accordance with established procedures, practices, and schedules
- Skill in dealing courteously and effectively with the public and City staff and providing a high level of customer service
- Skill in communicating effectively in English both orally and in writing
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others
- Skill in using tact, discretion, and good judgment in the handling of sensitive information
- Ability to type at a minimum corrected rate of forty-five (45) words per minute

APPLICATION PROCESS AND SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Appraisal Process – (Pass/Fail) After the closing deadline, applications will be screened in relation to the criteria indicated in this announcement.
This process may also include various interviews and/or a skills assessment exam to rank applications, and to prepare a Qualified Candidate List.
Application – Minimum Qualification Assessment - (Pass/Fail) All completed applications and supplemental questionnaires will be reviewed and assessed for each applicant's ability to meet the minimum work experience, training, and education qualifications.
Online Skills Assessment – (Pass/Fail) An Online Skills Assessment will be used to evaluate candidates’ knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position. The Online Skills Assessment may evaluate these areas of knowledge and skills: computer skills, attention to detail, customer service, time management, and other job-related technical skills.
The Online Skills Assessment will be conducted via a video conference platform and is tentatively scheduled the week of April 12, 2024. Candidates who pass the Online Skills Assessment will be invited to participate in the next step of the Selection Process.
Remote Screen Interview Exam – (100%) Candidates who pass the Online Skills Assessment will be invited to a Remote Screen Interview Examination to evaluate training, experience, and other job-related qualifications for the position. The Remote Screen Interview will be conducted via a video conference platform and is tentatively scheduled for the week of April 24, 2024.
Successful candidates will be submitted to the City of Walnut Creek for further consideration.
