Job description

Under supervision of the Business Services Officer I (Supervisor) the Office Assistant is responsible for providing mail distribution and support services to programs within the Department. This position will perform a variety of duties which require the ability to communicate effectively, make quick and accurate evaluations of situations and take effective action.

Special Requirements

Based This is a non-testing classification, therefore anyone meeting the minimum qualifications listed on the classification specification may apply for this position. Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Ability to move material which may weigh up to 55 pounds.
  • Must be able to repetitively move boxes of various lesser weights.
  • Typical work activities involve frequent and prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling or squatting while performing duties.
  • Use of safety equipment required during performance of duties.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment.
