- Investigate and inspect buildings, structures, and premises to detect violations of municipal codes or ordinances
- Respond to citizen complaints and investigate code violations
- Enforce building, fire, health, and zoning codes and ordinances
- Prepare reports of violations and issue citations
- Provide code information and assistance
- Research and analyze properties to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Develop and implement compliance enforcement plans
- Monitor development projects for compliance with codes and ordinances
- Develop and present educational materials
- Participate in related hearings and court proceedings as needed
- Issue building permits.
