GENERAL SUMMARY:
- Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care.
- Takes patient history, performs physical examination, orders, and interprets tests, makes diagnoses, and institutes appropriate treatment programs.
- Works in collaboration with staff physicians, house officers, nurses, and other medical care team members to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Specific procedures are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Requires a bachelor's degree; completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program; and Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
- OR- Requires a BSN; completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; Certification in one of the following: ANA certification exam in a nursing specialty field; National Certification Corporation (NCC); National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Associates; and/or certification from Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner (NP)
- Current BLS or ACLS as required.
- Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required by department.
- At least 6-12 months hospital experience preferred.
