We are actively seeking a talented Network Engineer with a specialization in advanced routing protocols, specifically in the conversion from EIGRP to BGP. This project is an Equinix Routing Refresh (Get EIGRP off the Equinix Edge as soon as possible) and instrumental in driving our network transformation efforts, optimizing our infrastructure for scalability, efficiency, and resilience. As a key member of our team, you will lead the migration from EIGRP to BGP and will handle the networking/routing aspects of this engagement (break-fix, trouble tickets from the help desk, etc.) to ensure seamless integration with our network architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the migration from EIGRP to BGP across our network infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive migration plan, including risk assessment, testing, and deployment strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess network requirements and design optimal BGP configurations to meet business objectives.
- Configure and deploy BGP routing policies, including route redistribution, filtering, and route summarization, to optimize network performance and stability.
- Troubleshoot complex routing issues and provide timely resolutions during the migration process.
- Document network changes, configurations, and best practices to ensure knowledge transfer and maintain network documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members involved in the migration project.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in routing protocols and network design principles.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Network Engineer, with a focus on advanced routing protocols and hands-on experience in migrating from EIGRP to BGP.
- Expertise in configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing BGP in large-scale enterprise networks.
- Strong understanding of EIGRP and BGP routing protocols, including their advantages, limitations, and operational differences.
- Proficiency in network routing and switching concepts, TCP/IP, OSI model, and network security principles.
- Hands-on experience with network equipment from leading vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, etc.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex routing issues.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
