Locally, since 2018, SMP Alabama has been producing modules and polymer products for Mercedes Benz US International (MBUSI) in our state-of-the-art facilities. Parts we produce include:

Network Engineer (Integration Team)
The ideal candidate should have the following attributes and/or skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, or related field of study
- 3-5 years network experience
- CCNA, or CCNP Certification is desired
- Experience with LAN/WAN networking/distributed computing environment
- Working knowledge of technologies such as MPLS, TCP/IP, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, RIP, QoS, IPsec, DMVPN, Wireless.
- Working experience of Wireless LAN controller, Core switches or IDF switches, Firewall management, VPN, MFA.
- Experience with network troubleshooting tools
- Firewall configuration and management
- Good oral and written communication skills and ability to address conflict with others constructively
- Strong ability to diagnose alerts, events, or issues
- Understanding of common information architecture frameworks
Main Duties
- Troubleshoots and resolves Cisco system/network service failures by identifying and analyzing the situation and provides corrective actions.
- Completes project tasks and assignments to meet project deadlines.
- Present strong interpersonal and communication skills; customer facing, vendor liaison, able to work closely with a team.
- Ensure the stable operation and efficient performance of company and customers’ networks.
- Identify and remedy network performance bottlenecks.
- Receive and respond to incoming calls, trouble tickets, and/or e-mails regarding network connectivity problems.
- Prepare, maintain, and adhere to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring network data.
- Configuring, testing, and troubleshooting of network equipment such as Cisco routers/switches, IP phones, and wireless LAN equipment in coordination with Project, Servicing, and Customer teams.
- Document all network designs, configurations, and network change requests to maintain real-time accountability network architecture.
- Flexible schedule and sense of urgency to support escalations that affect business operations and client services.
- Available after hours and weekends as needed and willing to work on-call rotation
- Maintains standard network designs for each SLA classification.
- Maintains Standard Router configuration.
