Summary:
Point Broadband is looking to hire a Network Operations Engineer as a part of our Network Operations team. The position will help support Point Broadband's Access, Metro and Core networks to drive increased reliability and carrier class uptime. This person will be key in training and mentoring other members of the Operations Engineering team while we build a grow a carrier class service provider network.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:
- Responsible for supporting Point Broadband's access, metro and core networks.
- Responsible for working with internal groups and external partners in the acceptance testing, and production implementation for long haul transport circuits.
- Lead and coordinate with vendors to support Point during critical network outages.
- Train and mentor other engineering staff to build expertise amongst the Operations team.
- Prepare written reports and other technical documentation necessary to communicate ideas, postmortems, opportunities for improvement, etc.
- >Analyze chronic network imperfections for root cause source and recommend any appropriate corrective actions. Implement fix/correction as directed
- Contribute to the definition of operational and support requirements for new network related technologies and products
- Provide routing escalation support for all Metro and Backbone network elements
- Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or five years military and/or industrial Engineering experience
- Must have proven operational experience of multi-gigabit transport networks
- Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills and a customer-centric attitude
- 5 years of Service Provider network experience
- Recent work history with MPLS and commercial networks and the various components included
- Recent Network Operations experience in a related field. Routing (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP) and switching expertise
- Extensive network engineering and architecture experience - excellent understanding of Internet and datacenter topologies
- Experience evaluating, configuring, and troubleshooting a variety of network equipment especially Juniper, Cisco, Brocade, and Alcatel-Lucent - solid understanding of associated vendor hardware architecture and characteristics
Computer Skills:
- Strong knowledge with configuration of Juniper/Cisco routers, switches, mux's, in an ISP environment
- Thorough understanding of various L2/L3 protocols and technologies: TCP/IP (v4 & v6) and related protocols, MPLS-based services, QOS, BFD, LACP, VRRP, STP, etc.
- Strong understanding of Internet Protocols and interior/exterior routing protocols (e.g. ISIS, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, Multicast, IPv6 )
- Excellent understanding of ACLs, prefix lists, and firewalls
- Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and IP Management
- JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP and/or CCNP/CCIP/CCDP required and or equivalent work experience
