Summary: Analyzes user requirements for accessing the company’s network resources, servers and data storage. This is to include both hardware and software needs. The Network Administrator will be responsible for creating and maintaining network security as well as reliable uptime of network resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Sets up, configures and supports internal and/or external company networks.
- Maintain the reliable connection of handheld scanners, desktops, laptops and other data input points.
- Maintain the reliable use of all wired and wireless network technologies pertaining to office support staff, to include but not limited to laptops, desktops, VOIP phones, company issued cell phones and printers. Maintain the reliable use of all wired and wireless network technologies terminating at the IT/OT equipment transition.
- Maintain all network resources, to include but not limited to LAN and WAN networks, network data storage, server network uptime reliability, firewalls, vpn and end point security updates, server OS updates and all server hardware firmware needs.
- Evaluate network security needs to limit the loss of company data via accidental or malicious intent. Provide solutions to counter threats internal and external.
- Enhance user security knowledge via continued training and evaluation.
- Evaluate and recommend new detection tools to catch and eliminate security threats.
- Develop ideas to create a better and more stable network and brings them to the IT Leadership.
- Daily support to users as required through service requests.
- Vendor liaison for hardware replacements and/or maintenance. Updates documentation to record new equipment, new sites, and changes to computer and system configurations.
- Maintain network maps for both virtual and physical layouts.
- Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; Two-year associate degree in a networking or security field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical Skills:
Extensive knowledge of end point protection tools, Cisco and Fortinet devices, M365 and Hybrid Windows Active Directory experience. Working knowledge of Windows based DNS, DHCP, WWW, FTP, SSL, Group Policies, AD users, distribution groups and security groups. Working knowledge of wifi and wired networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) infrastructures including but not limited to network interface cards, routers, firewall, switches, VPN and associated software solutions.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should haven in-depth understanding of hardware and network infrastructure. Knowledge of business functions and processes. Ability to analyze, translate and define business requirements into technical solutions. Understanding of computer technology, methodology, and software/hardware life cycles. Understanding of company applications, network environments, data resource management and infrastructure capabilities and constraints.
- Certificates and Licenses:
No certifications are required, but Fortinet Network Security, Cisco Certified Network, CompTIA Network+, MTA, Microsoft and Office Suite certifications are a plus.
