Job Description:   A Network Administrator is responsible for supporting business operations through the delivery of a reliable, highly available, and high-performing network infrastructure. This is done through careful planning, change management, monitoring, and an approach to tasks that is both timely and detail-oriented. This position is based at our Admin office and requires daily onsite attendance at a Charlotte Pipe and Foundry facility.

Functions:

1. Develop comprehensive knowledge of the business processes that depend on network connectivity and the key business stakeholders.
2. Maintaining and configuring network devices, including Cisco routers, Cisco switches, and servers.
3. Experience in configuring and supporting Cisco wireless networks including access points, controllers and security measures.
4. Knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
5. Ability to troubleshoot network issues and implement solutions to ensure network performance and reliability in a manufacturing environment.
6. Monitoring network performance and availability to ensure service levels are met.
7. Responding to network issues and outages by troubleshooting, identifying the root cause, and resolving the problem.
8. Experience with cabling standards and techniques, including copper and fiber optic cabling
9. Ability to manage large scale cabling projects and installations.
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with other IT professionals, end-users, and management.
11. Knowledge of network security best practices and experience implementing security measures on Cisco devices.
12. Escalating issues to appropriate support teams or vendors and communicating status updates.
13. Conducting regular system backups and maintaining documentation of network configurations and procedures.
14. Attend business seminars, training and any other forms of educational opportunities to maintain currency of technology.
15. Design, evaluate, recommend, install, test and maintain all CPF data network equipment at all end points.

This includes but is not limited to:

• Layer 1 Infrastructure – copper and fiber connectivity, termination, network cabinets, patch panels, and UPS systems.
• Layer 2/3 Switching LAN/WAN Infrastructure – network switches, wireless access points, SD-WAN appliances.

1. Purchase networking equipment based upon defined company needs, capital projects or other requirements and ensure purchased equipment arrives on-time, is accurately priced and configured.
2. Respond in a timely manner to incidents and requests at all company locations following department ITSM policies and procedures.
3. Maintain current documentation of network assets and design using the current network team processes.
4. Adherence to operation processes; including incident, problem, change, and project processes based on ITSM documentation.

Requirements:

• Minimum associate degree, bachelor’s degree Preferred
• 2-4 years of IT Enterprise Network Support Experience
• Layer-1 network implementation experience and project coordination.
• Strong understanding of network cabling standards.
• Experience in the use of network management tools for troubleshooting and monitoring.
• Network Administration Certifications or Equivalent Training \ Experience
• Able to lift 50 lbs. and use a ladder or mechanical lift to access network equipment
• Proficiency in Productivity Software – MS Office, Visio, Adobe
