Overview

Larimer County Department of Natural Resources is seeking a skilled and hard-working individual to join our team as a Natural Resources Technician TEMP! We are looking for a knowledgeable and friendly person to assist with natural resource management, monitoring, and data collection.

Our mission is to establish, protect, and manage significant regional parks and open lands by providing quality outdoor recreational opportunities and stewardship of natural resource values. Responsibilities

Specifically, this position:

• Assists the conservation easement monitoring program through monitoring and report writing.
• Supports vegetation and wildlife monitoring efforts on open space properties.
• Supports various ecological restoration efforts.
• Follows established field procedures.
• Provides general office support.

We are looking for a candidate that will:

• Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
• Have experience with field data collection.
• Analyze and evaluate field data to create reports.
• Have an understanding of local plant and wildlife communities, conservation biology, threatened and endangered species, and natural ecosystem processes.
• Use specific computer software applications including ArcGIS, Collector, or ArcGIS Pro.

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

• One (1) year experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties with experience working with volunteers, landowners, contacting the public, customer service or the like required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited institution with coursework in Natural Resource Management, Biology, Ecology, or other related field required.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.

Supplemental Information

This is a temporary position.

The typical schedule for this position is 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of required pre-employment testing. Depending on the position, these checks may include, but are not limited to; reference checks, motor vehicle reports, employment verification, education verification, fingerprinting, criminal history information, physical, and a drug screening. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. Successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
