Responsibilities
Specifically, this position:
- Supervises seasonal employees and volunteers.
- Performs maintenance and repair on vehicles, boats, boat docks, equipment, cabins, restrooms, water facilities, visitor services buildings, and other related facilities.
- Makes routine purchases necessary for daily operations.
- Plans and schedules work assignments for crews and ensures equipment and supplies are available, including proper safety equipment.
- Maintains related records and reports.
- Assists in fabricating and constructing park facilities which may include boat docks, park shelters, picnic tables, park signs, fire grates, campsites, parking areas, small buildings, remodeling, utility lines, facilities, and other similar projects.
- Operates a variety of heavy and light equipment including mowers, chainsaws, tractors, backhoes, boats, and trash compactors.
- Provides information and directions to the public.

We are looking for a candidate that will:
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
- Understand and use the methods, materials, techniques, tools, and operational characteristics of mechanical equipment used in park maintenance, facility repair and construction, and related vehicle and equipment repair.
- Have knowledge of the general principles and practices of electrical wiring, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, welding, vehicle mechanics, landscaping, and horticultural principles.
- Be aware of park maintenance work-related hazards and use proper safety precautions.
- Understand the scope and application of laws and regulations pertaining to park operations.
- Take appropriate action in emergency situations.
- Act as a resource or expert in program area, providing technical guidance to less experienced staff.
Qualifications
All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- One (1) year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.

Supplemental Information
This position may work some weekends and holidays.
An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of required pre-employment testing.
