GENERAL FUNCTION:
National Correspondent Channel Manager has overall P&L responsibility for all facets of the Correspondent organization including Sales and Sales Support. Incumbent works closely with the heads of Business Support/Controls, Product,Secondary Marketing, Fulfillment, Risk/Compliance, IT, and other groups as it relates to Correspondent business strategies and initiatives.
Incumbent serves as the business leader for developing strategies around profitable volume capture, lender targets/criteria, recruiting/staffing, organizational structure, people development, sales strategy and execution (sales force effectiveness), pricing, IT, etc. Incumbent develops plans for growth, market share, cross-sell, Correspondent Account Executive (AE) productivity, and retention. Assesses needs and opportunities of organization along with implementing best practices.
Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage profit and loss responsibility of Fifth Third Correspondent business.
- Establishes go-to-market and sales strategy targeting lenders who match our criteria.
- Creates an overall sales environment with a focus on sales force effectiveness, quantitative and qualitative measures of success.
- Work with Correspondent AEs, Regional Sales managers and Fulfillment Hub Managers to coordinate activity to achieve planned results.
- Develop long-term vision and strategies to respond to changing market including targeted geographies.
- Partners with Secondary Marketing to establish pricing policies for the Channel.
- Oversee analysis and control of risks associated with the Correspondent business.
- Partners with Enterprise Risk to establish Correspondent criteria related to asset/company size, risk profile and other key factors.
- Develop a customer experience vision aligned to the strategy. Partners with Mortgage/Bancorp Customer Experience teams to conduct analysis to map all relative touch points in customer experience (current state) and identify gaps to create future state. Also works to establish quantitative/qualitative goals for customer experience & monitor performance.
- Responsible for CRA and internal/external audits.
- Ensures Correspondent channel meets established standards for Risk, Compliance and credit quality.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for providing direct reports with timely, candid and constructive performance feedback. Develops employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth. Develops the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning. Recognizes and rewards employees for accomplishments. Incumbent also holds his direct reports accountable for performing the same functions andactivities with their direct reports. Total organizational headcount will number 15-25 encompassing Sales, Sales Support, Inside Sales, and Staff functions.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Extensive knowledge of the mortgage banking, Correspondent, and sales industry.
- Prior mortgage sales and 6 to 8 years management experience required.
- Four-year college degree in business or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Proven ability to build, motivate, develop and retain a sales team involving multiple distribution channels, market segments, vast product lines and diverse geographic markets.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation, both with external customers as well as internal partners.
- Ability to develop and execute strategies which create opportunities to serve multiple customer/client segments in multiple markets.
- Ability to effectively drive and lead organizational change.
- Demonstrated aptitude to quickly comprehend key financial leverage points to develop opportunities to expand and increase Correspondent penetration.
- In-depth knowledge of Compliance rules and regulations.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated relationship building skills required for partnering with internal and external stakeholders.
- Requires ability to travel extensively within assigned area.
- Strong PC skills in MS Office; previous experience with Mortgage origination systems preferred.
