NASA RF Communications Systems Engineer

MRI, a woman-owned Technologies and Engineering Services company, has an exciting opportunity for anRF Communications Systems Engineer on the JETS II Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. We are excited about what we do, and we need you on our team as we take on exciting challenges for NASA's pursuits in deep space exploration.
As an RF Communications Systems Engineer you will:
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the Communications and Tracking Sub-Systems of the Gateway Level 2 Sub-
Systems.
- Write Radio Frequency communication subsystem level Interface Requirements Documents (IRD), Verification
Requirements (VRs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for spacecrafts. Review IRDs, ICDs and component level
requirements (Transponders, Transceivers, baseband processors).
- Review Link and network layer protocols implemented on communication systems based on CCSDS recommendations.
- Determine the performance of Radio Frequency (RF) communication links and create link budgets using analytical
methods or by applying analysis to simulation tools.
- Actively participate and contribute to Systems Requirements Reviews (SRR), Preliminary & Critical Design Reviews,
Component level reviews and Technical Interchange Meetings.
- Perform Radio Frequency interference & compatibility analysis, Power Flux Density analysis, Spectral analysis for Space
based communication systems.
- Assist and support NASA RF communication sub system manager with reviews, meetings and be the technical Point of
Contact.
- Represent JSC and interface with other NASA centers and federal agencies.
- Perform analysis using software such as Matlab, Simulink, and Excel.
- Perform other duties as required.
Here's What You'll Need:
Requisition Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience in the field or in a related
area.
- Must have completed college level RF Communications course work.
- Strong analytical skills in RF communications.
- Excellent knowledge of communication systems such as digital modulation, spread spectrum signals and signal
detection.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills along with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Requisition Preferences:
- A MS or BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school.
- Experience with NASA processes.
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Essential Functions
Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and Machines
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
