Base Salary:
$29,000.00
Performance Pay:
Available annually
New hire experience:
1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a five-year maximum
New hire education:
1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

C52, 12 months

OVERVIEW:
Mesa Youth Creative Agency is a work-based learning enterprise within Mesa Public Schools that offers an unmatched opportunity for a graphic designer to work and innovate in the creative field while maximizing their social impact through the power of MPS and MYCA's mission and work. The MYCA Digital Media Design Studio fulfills a range of client design services including brand and visual identity design, graphic murals and interiors, way-finding and signage, apparel, publication and layout, photography, video production, and social media content. In this context, it offers an amazing opportunity to grow, develop, and collaborate in one of the most creative spaces and high impact organizations in the Phoenix Metro area.
The Studio Manager for the Digital Media Design Studio is the lead on design projects, maintains one-on-one client relationships, project management, design, and production of client projects within the DMD Studio. In collaboration with the Studio's teen designers, the Manager will apply a strong understanding of the design process to complete high-quality marketable design work that generates revenue for the DMD Studio and MYCA at large. The Studio Manager will also collaborate with other Studio Managers to fulfill multi-studio client projects as well as internal design requests that support the promotion of the mission of MYCA.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media or related program with at least one year of industry experience OR Minimum of four (4) years' experience in related field
  • IVP Fingerprint card
  • Proficiency in Adobe CS - Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
  • Experience managing projects, design process, and clients from start to completion
  • Proficient in the design of visual identity systems, brand strategy, publication and layout design
  • Proficient Design Skills: attention to detail, concept development, design-thinking, typography, layout, illustration, graphics
  • Knowledge of print/digital production and file delivery
  • Excellent project management skills (time management, verbal and written communication, presentation, organization)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience leading, mentoring and managing a team of diverse experiences and talents
  • Experience in creating animated motion graphics
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and/or After Effects
  • Experience with animation software
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work in collaboration with the Digital Media Design Studio professional team to ensure project opportunities are maximizing the MYCA mission and mentorship of teen designers.
  • Actively direct and manage projects and teams from start to finish by managing production schedules, client communication and presentations, team delegation and collaboration, the design process, and final delivery.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Apply a strong understanding of design, aesthetics and conceptual thinking to a diverse range of internal and external studio print and digital projects including but not limited to brand design, environmental design, product design, and publication/layout projects, photography, videography, and social media marketing collateral.
  • Maximize teen members' success by creating and communicating clear expectations for their participation as a graphic design employee and making accessible all project goals, expectations, schedules and files while strengthening their design thinking capacity, understanding of the design process, creative skill sets, interpersonal communication skills, and ensuring their professional development.
  • Foster and develop strong relationships between the members of your team to efficiently and effectively deliver products
  • Develop and design print/digital collateral to support MYCA's brand and promotional initiatives in collaboration with other internal departments including marketing and fundraising.
  • Prioritize workflow with a strong sense of deadline and time management-and be willing to adapt in lieu of new information and feedback.
  • Continually engage the latest trends, materials, and work methods to deliver high quality digital and print design work that meets the demands of the market.
  • Identify, create and implement strategies and systems for studio management, maintenance, and file/spatial organization.
  • Proactive contribution to teen mentorship strategies by identifying and designing teen training opportunities, workshops, field trips and inspirational activities to guide, inspire, and teach teen designers.
  • Embrace ambassadorship by communicating the MYCA mission to guests, current and potential clients, interested parties and donors during MYCA events, tours and gatherings in collaboration with teens.

  • Appropriately communicates and interacts with other professional sta? in planning and school committee work
  • Attends and participates in sta? meetings and special events when requested

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the site administrator
