Molecular Biology Associate Scientist

Spectrix is seeking a full-time scientist to join the Functional Genomics team in the Oncology Research Division of our client's site located in La Jolla, CA. The team uses CRISPR and other gene editing technologies to advance new cancer therapeutics and deliver breakthroughs that are changing lives.

Job Responsibilities

Duties specific to this position include cell culture, PCR, lentiviral packaging/infection, data analysis and CRISPR reagent design/delivery. The appropriate candidate will have earned an undergraduate degree in Biology, Biochemistry or Genetics, be able to maintain excellent laboratory records..

• Generate robust, reproducible data to support to support ongoing drug discovery projects
• Analyze, publish data using standardized workflows from internal/external sources
• Perform mechanistic studies for detailed characterization of targets and small molecules
• Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams, collaborate to achieve team goals

Qualifications

• BS degree in Molecular Biology, genetics or related field with a minimum of 1 years relevant work experience (preferably industry based).
• Experience optimizing and running PCR reactions
• Strong attention to detail
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cancer cell culture
• Experience using genetic perturbation systems; CRISPR, shRNA or siRNA
• Skilled user of online biology tools; UCSC genome browser, CLUSTAL sequence alignment, DepMap cancer database, UniProt protein database
