NGMBio is currently seeking an experienced, motivated and collaborative Scientist with a background in Molecular Biology and recombinant Protein Expression to help us build innovative therapeutic biologics and to explore and develop novel technologies. The candidate will join the Biologics organization, and work in a cross-functional team. The candidate will be responsible for construct design, molecular cloning, and expression of recombinant proteins to support the advancement of pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build expression constructs for recombinant protein production
- Express recombinant proteins in mammalian systems including transient HEK293 and stable CHO cells, and other organisms as needed
- Provide Molecular Biology and mammalian expression expertise on cross-functional research project teams
- Work closely with purification group and antibody groups to support pipeline advancement
- Develop and implement innovative molecular cloning and mammalian expression technologies
Education and Experience
- M.S. in a relevant scientific discipline and a minimum of 13 years (or a B.S. plus 15 years) of relevant experience in the industry, Or a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field, with 2+ years of relevant experience in the industry or academia. Candidates with some industry experience are preferred. (level commensurate with experience)
- Extensive hands-on experience in expression constructs design and molecular cloning techniques
- Proficient at transient and stable expression of recombinant proteins in HEK293 and CHO cells. Experience with bacterial and insect cell recombinant expression is a plus
- Substantial in-depth knowledge of the relationship between molecular constructs and Protein Expression, especially for mammalian systems. Experience in optimizing constructs to improve Protein Expression level is required.
- Knowledge/Experience with antibody and bispecific antibody formats is highly desirable.
- Experience with incorporating high throughput methods into workflow is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving and trouble-shooting capabilities; good record keeping and organizational skills;

Position is based at NGM Bio's South San Francisco office location with expectation for regular on-site presence.

At the time of posting, the wage range for this role at the Scientist I level is $122,100 to $158,000 Scientist II level is $129,800 to $167,900 per year for candidates located in the Bay Area. For applicants outside of the Bay Area, the pay range may adjust according to geographic compensation data.
