Job Description:
Immediate opening available for a Research Associate position to work in the drug discovery team to support ongoing efforts to generate preclinical data for small molecules targeting RNA. Key responsibilities will be to run routine qPCR, cell proliferation, RNA sequencing, ELISA, and other biochemical and Cellular assays in high throughput format using liquid handler to support ongoing drug discovery projects. Run biophysical assays using ITC regularly. Perform tissue and serum sample processing from in vivo animal efficacy studies to identify biomarkers and demonstrate target engagement. Manage compound inventories and run weekly cellular and biophysical screening assays. Successful candidates will regularly interact with CROs and work in highly collaborative team-based projects. Properly record results in ELN notebook and upload data using online softwares for team visualization. This position will be onsite at Atomic AI at the very epicenter of San Francisco's flourishing, evolving and challenging biopharmaceutical industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to discovery biology and preclinical development work in oncology and other therapeutic areas.
- Design, establish and develop various cellular, biochemical, and biophysical assays to screen compounds routinely.
- Perform high throughput screening of compounds.
- Perform HTRF, western blotting, ELISA, Luminex based protein quantification assays.
- Manage compound libraries and inventories.
- Execute high-throughput compound screening using liquid handler and hit validations using cellular and biochemical assays.
- Routinely perform RNA isolation, qPCR, RNAseq experiments
- Participate in discussions with the CRO partners to enable technology transfer and management.
- Perform data analysis, and record scientific data in ELN and upload to online databases.
- Write weekly progress reports and share results in project meetings in a timely manner.
- Actively contribute to a focused, team-oriented atmosphere, providing assistance and/or guidance to colleagues when needed.
Key techniques:
- Biochemical assays including but not limited to ITC, ELISA, fluorescence, luminescence assays and binding assays.
- Cell culture (cell lines and primary cells), transfection methods, cell based assays including cell viability, signal transduction, reporter assays, protein detection and other assays.
- Experience with using liquid handlers, high-throughput assay formats (384 well).
- RNA isolation, qPCR, cell viability, RNAseq. RNAi, CRISPR based gene-knockdown techniques
- Process tissue samples from in vivo animal studies for various downstream applications.
Qualifications:
- MS/BS in Biology with a minimum of 2-5 years of industry/biotech experience.
- Strong background in basic research or translational research in oncology, including but not limited to high throughput screening, cell-based assays, protein biochemistry, molecular biology with emphasis on RNA technologies.
- Highly analytical mindset, attention to detail, organization skills, and rigorous experimental record keeping, troubleshooting are critical.
- Ability to work independently and able to balance multiple tasks or projects.
- Diligent with details, timely execution and delivery of high-quality results.
- Familiarity with analysis of genomic and gene expression data sets.
- Experience working with CROs and/or compound management organizations preferred.
Salary Range: $90,000/year to $110,000/year + equity + benefits
