Description:
The Gladstone Institute of Virology is recruiting a Research Associate (I, II, III or Sr.) to contribute bioengineering and Molecular Biology skills for ongoing virology research.
Responsibilities
- Perform experiments relevant to identifying latently infected HIV T-cells at a single-cell level (e.g., performing isothermal amplification and Cas12 assays on cell lines, FACS, single-cell transcriptomics analysis)
- Perform experiments relevant to viral diagnostic assay development using CRISPR-Cas technology (e.g., assays in 96-well or 384-well plate format using standard plate readers, microfluidics, preparation of buffers and solutions, etc.)
- Design and execute experiments, interpret results, maintain excellent records, and routinely present project updates
- Work independently and collaboratively to complete experiments and research projects
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree and 2+ years of directly relevant experience
- BS or BA or MS in Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related field
- 1+ years of hands-on lab experience (may include any relevant laboratory coursework as part of undergraduate/masters curriculum)
- Strong foundation in bioengineering and Molecular Biology techniques in a BSL-2 laboratory
- Outstanding communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask with effective time management
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and GraphPad Prism
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Working knowledge of CRISPR/Cas technology and skills
- Experience with infectious diseases and/or virology
- Knowledge of programming language (MATLAB or Python)

RA I- $25.70/hr-$30.24/hr
RA II- $66,560-$77,983
RA III-$73,914-$85,781
Sr. RA- $83,361-$98,072
