Role Overview:

Self-Help is seeking a Manager of Risk Management and Large Loan Relationships to join our Commercial Lending Asset Quality (CLAQ) team.. The Manager of Risk Management and Large Loan Relationships is a critical member of the Commercial Lending Asset Quality (CLAQ) team. The CLAQ team leads Risk Management and Large Loan relationship activities for the commercial loan portfolio of $500 million, including monitoring and assessing portfolio risk and identifying workout strategies for loans in excess of $1 million. The Manager, Risk Management and Large Loan Relationships must demonstrate a strong track record in building relationships, monitoring credit risk, making strategic decisions, and achieving strong results.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee ongoing risk-based loan review and monitoring programs for the commercial loan portfolio.
  • Oversee workouts for loans in excess of $1M. Develop and implement solutions for troubled Large Loans alongside the relationship manager and other staff members. Underwrite, approve and coordinate these loan modifications.
  • Coordinate risk ratings, financial statement analysis, annual reviews, site visits, and all other post-closing monitoring and Risk Management responsibilities with the support of the portfolio managers and analysts on the Risk Management team.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee programs to analyze loan portfolios to identify existing and/or emerging issues relating to credit quality, risk, and forecasting losses.
  • Recommend procedural changes to prevent and/or correct deficiencies identified during the loan review and monitoring process.
  • Develop and implement programs for analyzing economic and industry data to measure potential impact on the loan portfolio. Develop deep knowledge in specific industry sectors to inform risk measurement and analysis.
  • Lead relationship management and borrower outreach for all Large Loans. Oversee staff responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with existing borrowers in their assigned loan portfolio. Ensure team leads the process through strong customer service, attention to detail, and accountability.
  • Support and build tools for coordination with internal partners, including Commercial Lending, Servicing, Special Assets, Legal, and other staff members.
  • Develop workflow for handoff of Large Loan Relationships from the Commercial Lending Team to Risk Management.
  • Lead quarterly Asset Quality meetings.
  • Report on credit risk and portfolio concentration to senior management and the Board of Directors quarterly.
  • Supervise, direct, develop, and evaluate engaged Risk Management staff.
  • Act as a change agent to drive Self-Help’s economic inclusion initiatives by integrating supplier diversity and the use of businesses owned by women and people of color in third-party contracting and vendor management for relevant products and services.
  • Perform other duties as may be deemed needed.

Credentials, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 6 years of experience in commercial loan portfolio management or equivalent experience.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience.

Compensation:

San Francisco Salary Range ( $96,500 - $120,600 - $143,808 )
