As a Risk Management - Special Credits Executive Director within the Risk Management and Compliance team at JPMorgan Chase, you will be at the center of keeping our firm strong and resilient. You will help us grow our business in a responsible way by anticipating new and emerging risks, and using your expert judgement to solve real-world challenges that impact our company, customers, and communities. You will be part of the Special Credits Group (SCG) focusing on risk-management and maximization of recovery on JPMorgan Chase’s credit exposure through early intervention and financial restructuring for stressed borrowers.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the Commercial Bank Special Credits Group Commercial Real Estate team in the management of problematic loans.
- Manage individual portfolio of problematic credits in the role of Special Credits Officer.
- Regularly interface with borrowers, financial advisors, and outside counsel on generating the best solution for repayment of credit exposure. Lead negotiations within a syndicate when in an Agent role.
- Advise internal constituencies including line market and risk personnel, finance and control partners, bankruptcy legal, treasury and derivative teams on problem loan matters.
- Formulate strategies and present recommendations to internal and senior management on distressed situations in either an advisory or managed capacity.
- Prepare valuations for reserving and charge-off analyses on individual problem loans and forecasting for non-performing loans, charge-offs and recoveries.
- Adhere to regulatory, control and governance processes for Special Credits Group, including troubled debt restructures and CECL accounting rules, debt previously contracted securities etc.
- Develop an understanding of bankruptcy rules
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10 years of professional experience related to Risk Management of commercial real estate loans, including exposure to managing large syndicates as Agent.
- Strong, clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong Excel and Power Point skills
- High degree of initiative, self-direction and ability to work well under pressure in a demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- Prior workout experience preferred, especially in commercial real estate matters.
