SalaryMental Health School Nurse – Part Time
Part Time Hours - Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday for the school calendar year and Summer Extended School Year Program.
The Elizabeth Lee Black School is looking for a qualified nurse to join their team!
This is a Part Time position to work in our Mental Health Partial Program in the Elizabeth Lee Black School, an Approved Private School for children with intellectual disabilities and Mental Health disorders. The nurse will collaborate with families and internal/external service provides to coordinate psychiatric treatment for students. The nurse will work as part of the clinical treatment team to provide medical management and assist in monthly treatment team reviews. The incumbent of this role will maintain communication with the School Nurse regarding medication administration.
Responsibilities of Mental Health School Nurse – Part Time:
- Send out Lab requests for MH/APS clinic students. Review and share Lab results with physician then scan to Carelogic.
- Complete and record monthly students' height, weight, blood pressure, BMI, AIMS for MH and abdominal waist circumference according to program standards. Schedule and coordinate blood work as ordered by the physician.
- Classroom collaboration and observation as appropriate to maintain communication of student's needs with service teams.
- Attend weekly clinic meetings with physicians and team. Maintain updated MHP and APS clinic books.
- Communicate with service team or family information regarding medication changes, behavioral changes, health concerns, medication side effects and the need for lab work to monitor medication.
- Maintain list of medication for physician and provide list to physician when refills are due. Administer medication as ordered/ needed.
- Prepare prior authorization request packets for medication for MH/APS students.
Qualifications of Mental Health School Nurse – Part Time:
- RN or LPN licensed in the State of Pennsylvania
- Eligibility for Act 33/34 clearances
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or Mental Health preferred.
- Excellent computer skills and experience working with or ability to learn e-prescribing software; Dr. First preferred
