Records patients' physical condition by taking vital signs and observing behavior; organizes social or recreational activities to encourage patient participation.Job DutiesProvides direct patient care and management of patients with medical and behavioral issues.Assists in the direct care and management of patients across all age ranges with medical and behavioral issues as directed by the treatment team.Assists with day-to-day management of the patient(s) on an inpatient psychiatric unit and assists with activities of daily living for patients unable to perform these activities.Assists clients in learning how to meet basic needs such as medication management, developing life skills; pursuing recreational and leisure activities, housing, transportation, legal, medical, and financial assistance; and securing appropriate entitlements.Plans therapeutic recreation for groups, steers department philosophy toward purposeful interventions and therapies, and works with other clinical staff on special projects and duties.Observes and documents client compliance with medication regimes as dictated in the treatment plan.Maintains continuous alertness and response to patient safety issues and participates in maintaining a safe and secure patient care environment.Assists clinical staff in meeting and monitoring the client’s medical and health care needs.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GED Less than 1 year of applicable experience. Ability to handle significant amounts of confidential patient information. Ability to handle crises calmly and maturely. Demonstrated ability to adapt to emergency situations. Familiarity with community resources and the delivery of case management services. Knowledge of Mental Health and/or substance abuse. American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Certification - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire Preferred Qualifications Successful completion of core and specialty orientation with code orange training required and Successful completion of crisis management course. Physical DemandsLift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking.
