PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Contributes to achievement of VACU's strategic goals through effective leadership and management of the Membership Development team, business development activities, and support of financial education in the workplace. Cultivates and nurtures relationships with current and potential groups in the field of membership to increase positive member participation in VACU and provide mutual value.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Based on the credit union's strategic objectives, plans and implements effective membership/business development strategies and action plans to increase positive member participation and achieve annual goals that contribute directly to VACU's strategic goals. Leads and manages proactive outreach to membership groups, growing membership, new business and deepening relationships.
Cultivates and nurtures relationships with membership group leaders and liaisons to understand their organizations and needs and maintain positive support. Provides feedback from groups to VACU to better serve their organizations and employees and ensure mutual value.
Is responsible for the strategic acquisition of appropriate new companies and other groups not currently served by VACU. Identifies, researches and recommends approval of groups. Ensures efficient processing and effective communication, onboarding and follow up to achieve positive participation in membership and use of VACU services. Monitors continued success.
Uncovers and further expands opportunities to deepen positive participation within existing groups.
Contributes to the VACU's financial literacy efforts through the support and coordination of workplace seminars conducted by the Membership Development team. Partners with Financial Education Director to ensure quality and effectiveness of these programs. May present seminars as needed.
Is highly effective at networking. Attends business, government and other functions to network, build relationships and awareness about VACU, and generate leads for new business and opportunities to provide mutual value. Recommends sponsorship of appropriate events and may coordinate participation.
Effectively communicates through all channels. Makes presentation to groups of various sizes.
Leads and manages a professional Membership Development team to achieve desired results. Ensures employees are accountable for their performance and have meaningful goals. Ensures employees are knowledgeable about VACU's products and services and all other aspects of their positions. Serves as a role model regarding standards and protocol for effective needs-based sales and service, relationship building, professional image, events and activities. Encourages and facilitates professional development. Provides regular feedback and conducts performance evaluations.
Responsible for ensuring that business goals and individual goals are met.
Uses technology and research to enhance effectiveness.
Ensures appropriate and effective tracking, measurement and reporting of business activities and results. Analyzes and uses data to assess results, determines effectiveness of current strategies and initiatives, and develops new strategies as appropriate to achieve objectives.
Serves as a system administrator of appropriate software that helps manage and track relationships with membership groups. Throughout all job duties, maintains security of systems and data and complies with VACU's information security and other VACU policies and procedures.
Identifies and acts on opportunities for continuous improvement.
Ensures effective use of resources.
Develops and maintains a high level of knowledge of VACU's products and services, personal finance topics, credit union/banking industry current events, competitive issues and economic and other conditions affecting membership groups and individuals. Maintains an understanding of regulations and issues related to field of membership and the credit union industry related to areas of responsibility.
Collaborates with the marketing team to enhance effectiveness of VACU's marketing and Membership Development communications and efforts.
Partners with branches, contact center, financial services, business services and other VACU departments to ensure mutual value and support of VACU's goals.
Ensures that external communications are professional and in compliance with applicable regulations and requirements.
Ensures creation and maintenance of policies, procedures and guidelines for areas of responsibility.
Comply with all published enterprise level policies and procedures including, but not limited to, Risk Management policies.
Complete all required, ongoing enterprise level training including, but not limited to BSA, OFAC, and Information Security.
Report all Risk Management Policy violations in accordance with policy.
Coordinates required VACU training for department employees and ensures completion.
Other duties may be required and assigned by the supervisor.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge:
