Job Description:
We are seeking a Part-time (20 hours per week) Temporary - Medical Receptionist to become a part of the Colorado Physician Partners team! This position is responsible for coordinating the daily administration of doctors, staff, visitors, and patients. The position must exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in patient/staff interactions.
Responsibilities:
Greets and directs visitors in a positive and helpful manner. Provides any necessary instructions/directions in the areas of reception, registration, and scheduling in person and over the phone. Informs appropriate department/person of visitor’s arrival.
Answers telephone in professional manner, screens calls, and takes concise messages. Listens to and evaluates needs of callers and handles appropriately. Serves as a resource for callers, with a focus on customer service and assistance.
Data entry, review data for deficiencies or errors, correct any incompatibilities
Schedules appointments and upon patient arrival, timely processes patient check-in, ensuring to note ‘checked in’ in EMR.
Creates and manages patient electronic health records using computer software.
Ensures patient information is correct; makes any necessary information changes at each visit.
Checks patients in/out and verifies insurance/benefit coverage and collects co-pays and /or payment towards account balances at the time of service.
Processes and distributes all incoming faxes appropriately.
Respect and maintain the privacy and dignity of patient; always ensure patient confidentiality.
Assure the readiness of the reception area for each working day; open the building at the designated time and have all front desk activities fully operation at the start of business. Secure the building at the close of each working day; perform close of day protocols; ensure all entrances/exits are secure before leaving for the day.
Supplements office staff by assisting with computer input/typing, scheduling, preparation of forms, correspondence, compilation of data and other various projects.
Assists in maintenance of office equipment and supplies while maintaining a clean orderly reception area.
Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills at level necessary for taking patients' medical histories, understanding provider and supervisor’s instructions, and for accurately documenting patients' medical information.
Ability to effectively communicate with patient population and staff while demonstrating a high degree of diplomacy and tact.
Demonstrates flexibility regarding job duties and assignments.
Willingness to cross train within other departments within your scope of duties.
Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment.
Culturally sensitive and demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with ethnically diverse populations.
Working knowledge of “Universal Precautions,” always demonstrates professionalism.
Possess a thorough understanding of the importance of confidentiality and non-disclosure according to the general standards set forth by HIPAA.
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of computer and job-related software
Skill in identifying and resolving problems.
