Volusia County Podiatry is the premier podiatry practice located in DeBary, Florida, serving Central Florida Counties. Founded in 2019 by Dr. DeAndrea Duffus, DPM, VCP provides the highest quality of full foot and ankle care, including surgical interventions, diabetic foot care, and wound healing. Position Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Volusia County Podiatry as a Medical Receptionist. This vital position will provide administrative and billing support for VCP. Prior Medical Receptionist experience in outpatient clinic and/or physician office settings, preferred. VCP’s main hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8 AM – 5 PM est. Evenings may be required to fulfill work requirements. Pay is commensurate with experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Greeting patients and their loved ones when they come for appointments
· Answering phone calls and emails from patients, hospital, or other patient care providers
· Maintaining an office schedule for other staff members
· Filing medical records and other documents
· Keeping the front desk or office organized and running smoothly
· Scheduling appointments and follow-ups for patients
· Calling patients to remind them of their appointments and ensuring patient has current, active insurance prior to scheduled appointment
· Using a computer, medical office software, and other technology to keep information organized and up-to-date
· Processing payments from patients
· Assisting patients with filling out forms and answering their questions
· Transcribing notes from doctors
· Keeping the waiting and reception areas clean and inviting
· Contacting insurance companies regarding coverage and billing inquiries
· Maintaining a working relationship with the Medical Receptionists at other medical offices or departments
· Obtaining revenue by recording and updating financial information, controlling VCP CEO credit extended to patients, as well as, expediting third-party and insurance claims.
· Maintaining patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
· Ensuring business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and scheduling equipment and facility service and repairs.
· Responding to urgent and emergent situations, communicating and notifying the VCP CEO and others as appropriate.
· Protecting patients’ right by maintaining confidentiality of HIPPA protected information.
· Maintaining operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed updates.
· Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Education and Experience:
- Familiarity with phone systems
· Knowledge of medical billing and coding

· Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task
· Previous medical administrative experience, preferred
· Experience with Electronic Health Records
· Current or ability to quickly obtain BLS CPR
· Must have reliable transportation and a valid Florida Driver’s License
· Proficiency in operating basic office equipment (i.e. – computer skills, telephone, facsimile, copy machines, etc.)
· High School Diploma/GED; University degree is an asset
· Excellent organizational and administrative skills
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
· Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
· High attention to detail
· Bilingual a plus!
