Medical Receptionist

General summary of duties: The Office Nurse/Medical Assistant, under the supervision of the Office Manager, is responsible for assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care management. List of duties are as followed but not limited to...

• One year medical experience in a physician’s office or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred; will train a highly-motivated new graduate

• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Proficiency in the operation of a computer keyboard

Physical abilities:

• Stand for extended periods of time; push, pull and reach; occasionally bend, sit, stoop and stretch
• Have full range of body motion, including handling and lifting of patients
• Have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a keyboard,photocopier, telephone, calculator and medical equipment (e.g. EKG machine, glucometer)
• Have a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports; specific vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds Occasionally relocate to other jobs or office locations
• Maintain a current and valid driver’s license

Duties and responsibilities:

• Check patients in/out
• Insurance verification
• Collecting copays, balances and medical records.
• Scheduling
• Phone calls
• Creates, maintains, copies and files patient files, records and other information as needed
• Compiles and condenses technical and statistical data for reports and records
• Maintains strict confidentiality
• Treats staff, physicians, visitors and patients with dignity and respect
• Performs other related work as required

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary, PRN

Pay: $16.00 - $20.94 per hour
