WFMC Health is a non-profit medical and behavioral health clinic providing high quality healthcare services to residents of Marion and Polk Counties. We are seeking a full-time, bilingual Medical Receptionist for our busy practice. The ideal candidate is friendly, outgoing, motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment. We have immediate openings for the following shifts:
8:00am – 5:00pm M-F
8:30am – 5:30pm M-F
Our Medical Receptionists may also rotate a Saturday 9am – 2pm schedule.
Preference is given for:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience in a medical setting, including multi-line phone system experience and/or reception duties
- NextGen or comparable EMR experience
- Must be able to pass a background check
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
· Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner
· Manage large volumes of inbound and outbound calls in a timely manner, always identifying self and clinic
· Answer calls from patients and schedule/reschedule appointments as needed
· Route messages and transfer calls to appropriate personnel
· Complete necessary requests made by WFMC Health medical teams (provider/MA/care manager, etc.) for patient needs
· Assist other staff members as requested
· Document patient communication in NextGen EHR system for medical team to review
· Check-in patients using NextGen EMR system and verify and update patient demographic information including contact information and insurance
· Confirm correct spelling and data entry with patient to reduce duplicate charts or invalid contact information
· Check for co-payment, deductible and/or patient balance at time of visit
· Reconcile and balance cash drawers daily – before the clinic open and after the clinic is closed
· Verify coverage under insurance for Medicaid, Medicare, and other commercial insurance
· Offer financial assistance application to patients who are uninsured; refer to Resource Coordinator as needed
· Follow appropriate opening procedures to open the clinic at the beginning of each day
· Follow appropriate closing procedures to close the clinic at the end of each day
- Process mail, office deliveries, and incoming faxes
- Conduct reminder calls and monitor appointment reminder text messages
- Schedule interpreter for patients that request translation services
- Attend and participate in meetings and trainings as required
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Professional, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Graduation from accredited high school or GED required
- Ability to use Microsoft Word for basic correspondence
- Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm
- Demonstrate knowledge and adhere to clinic policies and procedures regarding patient care, insurances, new patients, etc.
- Handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, employees and the public
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
