Medical Receptionist-Scheduling Coordinator

Position Summary:
Under supervision performs all aspects of incoming phone calls and patient appointment scheduling.
Job-Specific Responsibilities:
· Answers all incoming phone calls, and forward or take message if needed
· Schedules all patient appointments
· Records detailed messages and pulls patient charts for all calls requiring nursing staff to call back within ten minutes of patient call
· Updates patient contact information and demographics on an on-going basis
· Reviews daily schedules of assigned physician for accuracy, and make corrections where needed
· Places appointment reminder calls to patients
· Reschedules all appointments for assigned doctor on an as-needed basis
· Faxes and/or copies records when requested by phone
· Scans patient charts
· Manages and processes assigned physician's mail
· Works in Check-In on a rotating basis as needed
Practice-Specific Responsibilities:
· Arrives each day prepared to work and prepares to leave at the end of the day only after work duties are completed
· Attends staff meetings and offers suggestions. Listens to others with an open mind
· Offers to help during down time
· Exhibits a professional appearance and dresses in professional company-approved attire
· Understands the concepts of universal precautions and OSHA
· Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrates a commitment to superior customer service
· Uses, protects, and discloses patients protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
· Performs other duties as assigned by Office Manager, Physicians, and/or Administrator
Job Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Two years front office experience, healthcare setting a plus
· Basic computer skills, familiarity with electronic health records a plus

Pay: From $17.50 per hour
