SUMMARY
The Technical Assistant performs specimen processing and distribution functions in preparation for analysis by a Medical
Technologist after confirming the accuracy of the patient identification. Provides specimen collection information and any
applicable special instructions to providers. Communicates test results to appropriate individuals in accordance with standard
clinical laboratory procedure.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists -ASCP, National CertificationAgency NCA, or deemed registry eligible as a Medical Technologist by the American Society or Clinical Pathologists - ASCP, or Clinical Laboratory Technologists (Health Education and Welfare) - CLT (HEW) or be a graduate of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences - NAACLS accredited School of Medical Technology and registry eligible.
