Department Information
Stamps Health Services is an outpatient ambulatory care center that provides health care and health education to students and their spouses/domestic partners. The center is located in a state-of-the-art, 40,000-square-foot facility within the Joseph Brown Whitehead Building, next to our Campus Recreation Center. Stamps Health Services provides care in six areas: Primary care, Women's health, Psychiatry, Travel/Immunization/Allergy, Pharmacy, and Diagnostic Services (lab and radiology). Primary Care Clinic is the largest of the clinics at Stamps Health Services and sees approximately 24,000 visits/year.
The Medical Lab Tech independently analyzes biological specimens integrating instrument operation, maintenance, control/calibration with patient data and test results to provide accurate, reliable, and timely information for preventing, diagnosing, or treating disease.
This position will interact on a consistent basis with Asst. Dir- Laboratory and Radiology Services, Providers, staff, and students

Job Duty 1 -
Processes orders and specimens, independently performs testing procedures, reports test results according to standard operating procedures
Job Duty 2 -
Correlates results with patient age and/or condition, recognizes deviation from expected results, and analyzes and corrects problems using standard operating procedures
Job Duty 3 -
Operates instruments using established protocols and quality assurance checks and performs preventive and corrective maintenance on instruments
Job Duty 4 -
Performs, records, and analyzes quality control data, makes judgments concerning results, and takes appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision
Job Duty 5 -
Maintains current professional skills and technical competency as defined by laboratory competency policy
Job Duty 6 -
Performs phlebotomy

Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Educational Requirements
Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree, or two years college course work: Associate of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent education that meets personnel requirements for the College of American Pathologists and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments for testing performed
Other Required Qualifications
Certifications, Licenses or Permits:
MLT (Medical Lab Technician) certification from the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Technician or National Certification Agency
Required Experience
One or more years of job-related experience
SKILLS
RELATED SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Familiarity with electronic health records and Laboratory Information System (LIS) software
- Demonstrable evidence of working knowledge specific to a college-based laboratory environment preferred
- Computer skills include Microsoft Office Suite and email
- Must work effectively as a team member in a diverse or multidisciplinary group
